Westwood Golf Update - 4/1/20

             WESTWOOD GOLF UPDATE – 4/1/20

I hope everyone is doing well under the current conditions. Golf course restrictions and guidelines seem to be changing by the hour, especially this past Saturday when many clubs were called and told by their county health departments to close only to have another call on Sunday reversing the mandate.

Here is where we stand golf wise at Westwood for the moment- again, I apologize for some of the redundancy.

What’s new at WCC based on distancing and updated guidelines?

*The course is open for walking only and push carts are available - there is a one time sign out waiver for use of the push carts at the first tee. Sanitization and virus free equipment is an ongoing challenge for everyone. You are at your own risk. Please sanitize before and after play. We will supply sanitization products while supplies last. After that, you must supply your own. We have sanitizing stations at the starter desk and outside our back bagroom door for when golfers finish their round.

*Tee times have been spread out to 15-minute intervals. Tee Times by calling or using the club app are required…no walk-ups allowed to eliminate extra congregating at the first tee. Do not tee off on any other hole other than #1 unless ok'd by the golf staff.

*Please show up NO EARLIER than 15 minutes prior to your tee time.

*No more than 4 players per group.

*Although the golf shop is closed, items are still available upon request. New inventory has come in and is available to be seen, purchased, etc. by appointment.

*The bagroom is closed but has limited availability- e-mail or call/text John Sico at 440-773-9521 if you need your bag. After play, please take your bag home with you.

*No dog walking, jogging, etc. on course property - As of 4/1 (per club rules), the golf course and club property is for golfing only.

*Score posting season has begun. If you play, please post your score on the day you play. Play bunkers as Lift, Clean and Place and once you hit the raised cup (at a reasonable speed), count the ball as holed. Per the rules of golf, since the ball won't be officially "holed", you may need to post the number of strokes you most likely would've had to complete the hole.

As a reminder, please be aware of the guidelines below and adhere to the precautions:

*Golf Members Only

*Do not golf if you are sick to prevent someone else from being at risk.

*Please respect other members and employees and stay at least six feet away from others at all times. (SOCIAL DISTANCING)

*Leave the pin in - Cup liners are raised 1” so you do not need to touch the flagstick. If your putt hits the cup liner consider the ball holed.

*Bunker rakes are not out, please smooth over your footprints with your foot or club.
Caddie operations have been temporarily suspended.

*The golf simulator is closed.

*The driving range is closed.

*The short game areas are open (weather permitting) and a small number of balls will be put out there without shag bags, etc. Please gather after you practice. The short game practice greens will not have flagsticks, the cup liners will be inverted so the ball does not drop into the hole as far.

*Players must replace their divots and repair ball marks as usual.

*Ball washers, benches and broken tee caddies will not be put out (throw broken tees into the rough)

*Drinking fountains will not be put out, bring a water bottle.

*Please put trash in your bag, and throw it out after your round.

*Don’t shake hands after your round.

*Golf instruction is still taking place outside with social distancing. Call the golf staff to schedule a spring tune-up as the temps get warmer.

*The restrooms at the 10th tee are open.

Food & Beverage:
The club is offering a take-out program for both food and beverages. Menus are in the golf shop
and menu items are available for curbside pickup and on the golf course.

We want to provide you with the safest form of recreation (and distraction) to help our membership get through this difficult time. Please call the golf shop if you have questions or concerns about any safety concerns coming to play golf!
